Unreleased 13-Inch MacBook Pro with A2159 Model Number Pops up in FCC Filing

2017 vs 2018 MacBook Pro Comparison

A new unreleased MacBook Pro model has appeared on FCC documents. The FCC filings talk about a model number A2159 which is registered to Apple and is referred to as “Laptop computer.” Interestingly Apple laptop bearing A2159 model number was also spotted in the Eurasian Economic Commission database.

That being said FCC document doesn’t offer a clear picture as far as specifications of the upcoming device. However, the FCC listing explicitly states that this is a 13-inch MacBook Pro. In all likelihood, the device might be an updated version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro, something that Apple Analyst Ming-Chi had predicted earlier.

Meanwhile, the rumor mills are also talking about a new 16-inch MacBook Pro in the making. The 16-inch MacBook Pro is expected to arrive with a refreshed design and a new form factor. Furthermore, the laptop is also expected to come equipped with a Samsung OLED that offers a resolution of 3072 x 1920 pixels.

Apple has already treated the MacBook Pro to update early this year and thus the new model piques interest. It is worth noting that EEC registry had listed A2141, A2147, A2158, A2179, A2182, A2251, and A2159. Currently, the FCC filing for only A2159 was accessible.

Our Take

FCC approvals are furnished when the device is nearing its launch date. All the cues point at a new 13-inch MacBook Pro as opposed to a refreshed version of 12-inch MacBook or even new iMacs. As of now, it is hard to predict anything more from the FCC filing. As we said earlier the only thing that FCC filing reveals is that the upcoming “Laptop Computer” is a 13-inch MacBook Pro. It is quiet likely that we will learn more about the upcoming device as we inch closer to the launch.
