Twitter Is Testing a New Feature That Offers Curated Tweets Related to Popular Topics

Twitter is trying hard to become a source of news and information. Now the company is testing a new feature that will allow users to follow tweets of their topics. Once the feature is available you will be able to see Tweets on topics like celebrities, technology, sports, and television shows.

Twitter is using machine learning to curate the tweets and currently, only sports-related interests can be followed. As of now the feature is being tested on Android and will soon be available on iOS and other operating systems. This feature will come in handy if you don’t know whom to follow and yet want to get the latest updates about an interest/topic.

It is no secret that Twitter is trying to simplify things for new users. It has increased the word limit and already allows you to follow certain events like a sports game. Meanwhile, the company is also studying the bad effects the feature can create and this includes promoting outrage. In other words, Twitter will carefully choose the topics it wants to curate. Furthermore, you will also be able to mute the topics temporarily.

Twitter is also testing a separate feature that allows users to create separate lists for individual interests. You will be able to access these lists by simply swiping from the home feed. The company believes that these features will make it a “more powerful interest platform.” That apart, Twitter is also adding a search feature for direct messages and the ability to re-order photos in a Tweet. Most importantly, the platform will add support for Apple’s Live Photo format.
