Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus Reveals Its WEC Hypercar Series Racer

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has released the first official images of the car it will compete with in the new World Endurance Championship Hypercar class.

The racer, which doesn’t yet appear to have an official name, was first teased not too long ago and it looks just as wild as that teaser indicated.

The first thing that strikes you is that wing. SCG’s designers seem to have been inspired by the Alfa Romeo BAT concepts from the 1950s, with huge winglets stretching up off the rear wheel arches connected by a large horizontal support, making for one hell of a rear wing.

The edifice only does it make for a unique look but, presumably, it is also very efficient at producing downforce without generating too much drag. At the front, the SCG racer shares more similarities with the small company’s other models.

SCG hasn’t revealed official specifications for its new race car, other than it will be powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. James Glickenhaus has previously stated that this engine will deliver 650 HP to the rear wheels and be supplemented with a 150 hp KERS unit driving the front axle.

A pair of factory-backed entries will compete in the Hypercar class, while customer teams will also be able to purchase and race the car. In addition, SCG will build a handful of road-going examples to meet homologation requirements.

Other companies that have confirmed their participation in the new series, which will kick off during the 2020/2021 FIA WEC season, are Toyota, Aston Martin and ByKolles Racing.
