McLaren Speedtail Build Slot Pops Up For Sale At $5.5 Million

Last fall, McLaren uncovered the spectacular Speedtail that will be built in 106 examples, with deliveries expected to kick off next year.

Even if you do happen to have £1.75 million plus taxes in the UK (equal to $2.2/€2 million at current exchange rates) to spend on a brand new set of wheels, though, you still wouldn’t be able to place a deposit, as the entire production was sold out before the car’s unveiling.

Nevertheless, for the low-low price of €4,950,000 ($5,468,290) you can get your own build slot from a used car dealer located in Dubai. The Mobile ad doesn’t reveal when the buyer will take possession of the hyper GT, but even if it looks legit, those interested should read the papers in the presence of a lawyer and check all details with McLaren.

If everything turns out to be correct, then they will be cruising the streets in the spiritual successor of the iconic F1, which features an identical seating layout, with the driver sitting in the middle and two extra seats, one on each side, located further back.

Full technical details will be announced in the near future, yet woking has already disclosed its latest model’s performance – and it is mental. The Speedtail will be able to max out at 250 mph (403 km/h) and sprint to 186 mph (300 km/h) in just 12.8 seconds from a standstill; that 0.3 seconds quicker than the Bugatti Chiron!

That is made possible thanks to the plug-in hybrid powertrain, which combines the brand’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor for a total of 1,035 horsepower and 848 pound-feet (1,150 Nm) of torque.

Now, about that price: exclusive hypercars are, these days, a flipper’s wet dream, and we expected no different from the Speedtail. Paying more than twice its MSRP, though? Well, that’s for the one-percenters out there, to whom the Macca’s is aimed at, to figure out if it’s worth it.
