These Are The 2020 European Car Of The Year Nominees, Which One Should Win?

The 2020 European Car of the Year nominees have been announced. The long list includes a total of 35 models from different segments and counts one that has yet to be presented: the all-new Volkswagen Golf Mk8.

In order to be eligible, the cars have to be on sale now or before the end of the year in at least five European countries. The jurors will trim down the list to 7 before November 25, whereas the final round of voting will determine the big winner, which will be announced on March 2, 2020, on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show.

The prestigious award in 2019 went to the Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV, which managed to beat the Alpine A110 after a tie-breaker. In 2018, the Volvo XC40 claimed the trophy, whereas in 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014, the Peugeot 3008, Opel/Vauxhall Astra, Volkswagen Passat and Peugeot 308, respectively, received the golden medal. Shortly after it broke cover at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, the VW Golf Mk7 won the 2013 European Car of the Year.
