Alpina XB7 Sheds Most Camo, Stretches Its Legs At The ‘Ring

BMW will refrain from making an X7 M, so, if for those who want something more than the 530 PS (523 hp / 390 kW) and 750 Nm M50i xDrive, the only thing left to do is wait for Alpina to launch the XB7.

Expected to debut next year, the tuned version of Munich’s flagship SUV was spied testing at the Nurburgring again. The prototype wore less camo, with the only vinyl stickers present being at both ends, trying to mask the final design of the different front and rear bumpers. The large brakes, quad exhaust pipes and typical Alpina wheels, as well as the usual colors, will differentiate it visually from stock models.

On the inside, we also expect some changes, which will probably start with the entry sills that will greet users by lighting up upon opening the doors. The leather upholstery options, sports steering wheel, contrast stitching and probably an assortment of new trims will round up the visuals. Elsewhere, the XB7 will enjoy the same level of equipment as the range-topping X7.

Power will likely come from a tuned version of BMW’s 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8. In the new B7, it puts out 608 PS (599 ΗΠ / 447 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque, and is hooked up to an 8-speed automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive system. The 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time will probably drop closer to the 4-second mark, while top speed should increase to over 250 km/h (155 mph) with the removal of the electronic limiter.
