Now You Can Directly Watch Netflix Trailers on WhatsApp

Streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu have changed the way we access video content. Now WhatsApp is adding a new feature that will let you watch Netflix within the app. It uses WhatsApp’s Picture-in-Picture mode and you can watch videos or previews without leaving the app.

WhatsApp is already offering the feature with other services like Instagram and YouTube. The update adds Netflix to the list. Henceforth, WhatsApp users can share and access Netflix trailers and other content inside the app. Sharing content from Netflix is not intuitive and with features like these things will presumably get easier.

At this point, the feature will only let you watch previews or trailers. Furthermore, the feature is currently available only for iOS users. Typically, features are first rolled out for iOS followed by other platforms. Once shared, you can simply click on the play icon in thumbnail and watch the video on WhatsApp. However, if you want to stream the full-length movie then you need to head over to the Netflix app.

Recently it was learned that Apple’s upcoming software update will allow Siri to set third-party messaging apps as default and allow users to directly send a message to their contact from the voice assistant. All you have to do is say “Hey Siri, send a message to ‘xyz’ on WhatsApp” to send a message to their contact on WhatsApp. The company is also reportedly working on adding support to the iPad.
