Watch The Live Unveiling Of The 2020 Skoda Octavia Here At 1 PM EST / 7 PM CET

Skoda will take the wraps off the fourth generation Octavia today, at 19:00 CET (1:00 p.m. EST). Hosted in Prague, Czech Republic, the event is being live streamed and the video can be found at the bottom of the page.

Given the multitude of teasers, spy shots and leaks we’ve seen so far, it’s easy to deduce that the company’s best-selling model will go down the evolutionary road in terms of styling. Obviously, Skoda chose to follow the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ method of design, bar the disappearance of the controversial split-headlight design and a more arched roofline.

Things should be more vibrant inside, including the availability of a two-spoke steering wheel on some trims. The entire dashboard panel is new, and so is the wide-screen infotainment system that creates a modern atmosphere together with the digital dials that will be limited to the upper specs, alongside the three-zone climate control and other gear. The traditional gear lever is gone in models equipped with the DSG transmission, with the car featuring shift-by-wire technology.

Based on an updated version of the MQB platform used on the 2020 Volkswagen Golf 8, the all-new Octavia is compatible with a multitude of engines from the Volkswagen Group. Mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains will be included, as well as traditional turbocharged petrol and diesel units. All-wheel drive will still be available in certain high-end models.

The lineup will be completed by the Scout and RS next year.
