2020 Skoda Octavia RS Rendered As The More Practical Golf GTI Mk8 Alternative

Often times when a new model is launched, rendering artists rush to release the most outlandish versions that almost always fail to reach production.

It’s not the case here with this rendering of the next-generation Skoda Octavia RS (vRS in the UK) performance model. We know that an RS version is coming and the unveiling of the fourth-generation Octavia earlier this week makes the design of the RS model a lot easier to predict.

Created by X-Tomi Design, the rendering anticipates the Octavia RS liftback but the Combi wagon version will obviously feature the same face. As is usually the case with Octavia RS models, the new one will adopt a sportier body kit featuring a lower suspension, a sharper-looking front bumper, and bigger wheels.

The author also opted for a blacked out grille, black mirror caps, and even a black roof. We like what we see and we believe the real thing will be quite close to this CGI. What we don’t see here is the powertrain but there shouldn’t be big surprises in that department. The new Octavia RS is expected to carry on with two engine choices: a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and a 2.0-liter turbodiesel.

The big question is how much power will the new Octavia RS get, seeing as the new Octavia iV plug-in hybrid packs 204 PS (201 HP). Word on the street is the gasoline version will get around 250 HP, just like the base Mk8 Golf GTI, and a little more than the outgoing Octavia RS 245 range-topper.

The latter model will also get approximately 290 HP in TCR guise but it’s unclear whether the Octavia RS will also offer that engine. Expect the all-new Skoda Octavia RS to debut sometime in 2020, possibly at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
