Toyota GR Supra Horizon Blue Comes Face To Face With The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4

With the dust finally settling on the new Toyota GR Supra, it’s time to check it out in yet another quarter-mile sprint, this time against a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4.

Equipped with the same engine as the BMW Z4 M40i, a 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six, the 2021 Supra 3.0 has 382 HP and 368 lb-ft (498 Nm) of torque available on tap.

The Supra 3.0, which happens to be in the Horizon Blue Edition in this case, boasting special updates inside and out, is 0.2 seconds quicker to 60 mph (96 km/h) than the 2020 model, completing the sprint in just 3.9 seconds. This also gives it a half-a-second advantage over the 718 Cayman GT4.

The 718 Cayman GT4, on the other hand, uses a 4.0-liter flat-six power unit, a bored, stroked and turbo-free version of the 992-generation 911’s 3/0 Turbo unit. In this form, it develops 414 horsepower and 310 pound-feet (420 Nm) of torque, rocketing it to a top speed of 188 mph (302 km/h) according to Porsche.

There is no official quarter-mile time for the two models, but on a perfect day, both of them can do it in just a little over 12 seconds. As for which one would cross the finish line first, well, it depends on a number of factors, from the tires to the driver’s knowledge. However, that is a question whose answer can be found in the video shared after the virtual jump, yet before checking out the clip, would you care to guess which one came out on top?
