The Mazda6 lineup has been updated for 2021, with the biggest novelty being the introduction of the new GT SP model.
Following in the footsteps of the CX-9 GT SP, it replaces the old GT and stands out thanks to black mirror caps, unique 19-inch alloy wheels finished in black metallic and burgundy leather upholstery with red stitching inside.
Like its predecessor, the new Mazda6 GT SP, which is available in both sedan and estate body styles, is powered by the same turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that delivers 170 kW (231 PS / 228 HP) at 5,000 rpm and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque at 2,000 rpm. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and returns 7.6 l/100 km (30.95 mpg US) on average.
The same powertrain is also used in the range-topping Atenza variant, while the entry-level Sport and mid-range Touring four- and five-door models get the 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G petrol unit, making 140 kW (190 PS / 188 HP) at 6,000 rpm and 252 Nm (186 lb-ft) at 4,000 rpm. This engine is connected to a different ix-speed auto ‘box and the fuel economy is rated at 7.0 l/100 km (33.6 mpg US).
All 2021 Mazda6 models get standard LED headlights and taillights, 17-inch alloy wheels, electric side mirrors, 8-inch touchscreen display, sat-nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob and a selection of driver assistance gear.
The Touring adds LED DRLs, front parking sensors, auto-folding function for the side mirrors, power adjustable front seats, black leather upholstery and keyless entry. The new GT SP boasts bigger wheels, front and rear heated seats and adaptive headlights, while the Atenza is equipped with a sunroof, ventilated front seats, 7-inch TFT multi-info display, ambient lighting, black headlining, wood trim, 360-degree camera system, heated steering wheel and others.
