The W-126 penned by legendary designer Bruno Sacco is perhaps the most iconic of all Mercedes-Benz S-Class models and a particularly well-kept example has come up for sale in Massachusetts.
This W-126 is a 1991 420 SEL model was purchased new in October 1991 in Ohio and the original owner kept it for 29 years, only driving it 31,756 miles (51,106 km) and having it regularly serviced at the same Mercedes-Benz dealership. In 2020, it underwent a comprehensive service that saw the fluids changed and a new set of Michelin tires installed, the eBay listing reveals.
Adorning the exterior of the car is a lovely color known as Cabernet Red Metallic that perfectly suits the design of the S-Class. The original owner clearly took a lot of pride in the car’s exterior and during its recent service, the paint was expertly clayed and detailed and looks as good as new. Similarly, the engine bay has been cleaned and looks lovely.
In addition, the interior of the S-Class looks equally as fresh and well-kept. The tan-colored leather shows very little signs of wear, despite the vehicle’s age, and the black dashboard is also in excellent condition. In addition, the carpets and door panels look fresh and the pieces of wooden trim further add to the car’s pristine looks.
As a 420 SEL model, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine that produces 201 hp and 228 lb-ft (309 Nm) of torque when it was new. While the car lacks the technology of a more modern S-Class, it should prove to be bulletproof reliable and could be perfect for anyone who is a fan of cars from the 1980s and early 1990s.
