Ram Launches Second Wave Of “Built To Serve” Editions To Honor First Responders

Over the past few years, Ram has offered a series of Built to Serve special editions to honor the five main branches of the U.S. military.

The company is keeping that tradition alive as they’ve announced a “second phase” of Built to Serve trucks, which will honor first responders such as firefighters, police officers, and emergency medical technicians.

While members of the U.S. Space Force will likely cry foul, each of the special editions will be outfitted with “unique low-volume exterior paint colors that evoke the spirit, mission, and history of that service.” In the case of the firefighter-inspired Ram 1500 Built to Serve Edition, the truck sports a Redline and Diamond Black exterior as well as a black interior with orange contrast stitching.

Besides the unique paint jobs, the special editions will feature black bumpers, a black grille, black side steps, black badging, and a black dual exhaust system. They’ll be joined by body-color wheel arches, Built to Serve decals, and 20-inch aluminum wheels with a Technical Gray finish.

Interior changes are relatively limited, but buyers will find cloth and vinyl sport seats with Velcro panels as well as a Pouch Attachment Ladder System / Modular Lightweight Load-bearing Equipment (PALS/MOLLE) webbing. Elsewhere, there’s Black Onyx Chrome trim, all-weather floor mats, and a Built to Serve badge on the instrument panel.

The 2022 Ram 1500 Built to Serve editions will go on sale this spring and be based on the Big Horn trim. However, they’ll come equipped with the 4×4 Off-Road Group which adds skid plates, tow hooks, off-road focused shocks, all-terrain tires, hill descent control, and an electronic-locking rear differential. This helps to explain why pricing will begin at $46,625 before a $1,795 destination fee.
