2023 BMW 1-Series Spied With Updated Looks And Streamlined Design

The latest BMW 1-Series was introduced in 2019, so it comes as little surprise the company is working on a facelifted variant.

Recently spotted in a parking lot, the heavily camouflaged prototype features streamlined styling and a more curvaceous design.

Details are hard to make out, but we can see rounder headlights and a new front bumper with a central post as well as horizontal bars. They’re joined by hanging parking sensors and a revised grille that may follow in the footsteps of the 2-Series Coupe.

The updates continue out back as we can see new taillights and a rounder bumper with a horizontal element. While the changes are relatively minor, this is a facelift after all.

Spy photographers didn’t get a good look inside, but we can expect a handful of interior updates. However, it remains unclear if the model will be equipped with BMW’s Curved Display which debuted on the iX and is set to spread across the company’s lineup. Regardless of what happens, the current 1-Series can be equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a matching 10.25-inch infotainment system.

Little else is known about the hatchback at this point, but it will presumably feature an assortment of familiar engines that could receive minor updates to improve performance and fuel efficiency. There has also been speculation about a plug-in hybrid variant and that seems possible given the 2-Series Active Tourer offers a couple of eco-friendly powertrains.

The facelifted 1-Series is expected to be introduced next year and we can expect to learn more in the coming months.
