Sony on Tuesday gave us our first look at the next-gen PlayStation VR2 headset and acknowledged that it was “inspired by the look of the PS5 family of products.” The device’s name was revealed last month, while the PS VR2 Sense controllers were shown off nearly a year ago.

The new headset will be lighter than the old PS VR, which came out back in 2016, and include a lens adjustment dial and an updated vent design.

“One of the areas I wanted to focus on first was the idea of creating a vent in the headset to let air out, similar to the vents on the PS5 console that allows airflow. Our engineers came up with this idea as a good way to allow ventilation and avoid having the lens fog up while players are immersed in their VR games,” senior art director Yujin Morisawa said in a blog post.

“I worked on many design concepts to achieve this, and in the final design, you can see there is a little space in between the top and front surface of the scope that contains the integrated ventilation.”

The Japanese company didn’t reveal the device’s release date or price, but the original cost $399 at launch.

Sony previously revealed that the device will include 4K HDR OLED displays, with 2,000×2,040-pixel resolution per eye, along 90Hz and 120Hz frame rates. It’s also getting an exclusive game in the form of Horizon Call of the Mountain, a spinoff of PlayStation’s beloved Horizon series.
