The Most Popular Cars In America By State In 2021

Edmunds released its data on the best-selling vehicles in the U.S. by state. It should come as no surprise that America’s best-selling vehicle, the Ford F-150, performed the best in the most states, but not every one loves pickups best.

In all eight different vehicles topped individual states’ best-selling vehicles charts: the Ford F-Series (19), the Ram 1500/2500/3500 (10), the Chevrolet Silverado (8), the Toyota RAV4 (5), the Honda CR-V (5), the Toyota Tacoma (1), the Honda Civic (1), and the Toyota Corolla (1).

The numbers were based on data collected that only factored in retail sales of new vehicles and did not include rental sales or registrations from government bodies.

The results paint an interesting picture, with the popularity of vehicles being somewhat regional. Midwesterners prefer pickup trucks, with the Ford F-Series and Chevrolet Silverado leading in the area. Southerners, too, were fans of pickup trucks, while all five of Alaska’s best-selling vehicles were trucks.

New England, meanwhile, loves the Toyota RAV4, while other Northeastern states prefer the CR-V. Curiously enough, the sunshine states are the ones who still like a compact sedan, with the Civic claiming the top spot in California and the Corolla topping the charts in Florida. Moreover, being the best-selling vehicle in more states didn’t, however, mean that the Ram trucks outsold Chevrolet’s.

The 10 best selling vehicles in America in 2021 were:
