A 123-Mile Honda S2000 CR On BaT Has Already Reached $102,000 With 5 Days Left Of Bidding

The Honda S2000 is a special car, and a great example of a proper driver’s car for the masses. As a result of the normal model’s success, Honda decided to produce a limited-run track-focused version called the S2000 CR (CR standing for “Club Racer”) as a sendoff for the car’s final year of production. Now, one of these CRs with extremely low mileage is up for auction on Bring A Trailer, and it’s already hitting high prices five days before the auction is scheduled to end.

Honda only ever sold 699 S2000 CRs in the U.S., making this an incredibly desirable car right off the bat. However, if that wasn’t enough, the car only has 123 miles (198 km) on its odometer, an incredibly low mileage unlikely to be seen on many other S2000s given their age.

As a result, the car’s current bid is already a whopping $102,000 with less than a week still left in the auction. For reference, a little over a month ago, another Rio Yellow Pearl S2000 CR sold on Bring A Trailer for $122,500, yet it had a significantly higher 5,500 miles (8,851 km) on it, so we could only imagine what this one will fetch.

Changes for the CR over the normal S2000 were all focused on handling and weight reduction, as Honda didn’t tune the engine. And rightfully so, as with 237 hp (240 PS / 177 kW) and 162 lb-ft (220 Nm) of torque, that 2.2-liter inline-four actually produced the most horsepower per liter of any naturally aspirated production car until the Ferrari 458 came out in 2009.

But back to its upgrades, the car featured stiffer suspension, stickier tires, a quicker steering rack, a front splitter, a rear wing, and a removable hardtop. This all amounted to a curb weight of just 2,813 lbs (1,276 kg), which was 90 lbs (41 kg) less than the standard S2000. Other weight-saving measures included a radio and air conditioning delete as standard, but this particular S2000 CR has both of them as options.
