VW ID. Buzz Long-Wheelbase Mule Spied, Will Come To America In 2024

VW ID. Buzz Long-Wheelbase Mule Spied, Will Come To America In 2024

Volkswagen recently unveiled the European ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo, but the US-spec model is still a ways off as the long-wheelbase van isn’t slated to go on sale until 2024.

However, we’re getting our first look at the upcoming EV as spy photographers have snapped an apparent mule undergoing cold-weather testing.

While the van looks pretty unremarkable, Volkswagen was testing a similar mule for the standard ID. Buzz less than a year ago. The biggest difference between the two is the extended wheelbase, which will allow the long-wheelbase van to offer seating for up to seven people in a 2/3/2 arrangement.

Given that the model will simply be a longer ID. Buzz, the interior should largely carry over. As a result, we can expect a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10- or 12-inch infotainment system. We can also expect colorful accents, playful touches, and an ambient lighting system.

There’s no word on U.S. specifications, but the European ID. Buzz is being launched with an 82 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers a rear-mounted electric motor developing 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 229 lb-ft (310 Nm) of torque. However, Volkswagen has already said “more battery versions with various power output levels are expected to follow in 2023.”

That same year, Volkswagen will offer extended-wheelbase versions of both ID. Buzz models in Europe. 2023 will also see the introduction of the US-spec model, although it won’t be launched until the following year.
