BrightDrop Zevo 600 Sets World Record As First Electric Delivery Vehicle To Make 260-Mile Journey On Single Charge

The BrightDrop Zevo 600 (formerly known as the EV600) has become the first electric delivery vehicle to make a 260-mile (418 km) journey on a single charge. The trip took the EV from New York City to Washington, D.C.

The drive was completed by Stephen Marlin ahead of earth day in a Zevo 600 adorned in FedEx livery, the newly minted GM subbrand’s first customer. Along the way, the delivery vehicle made stops at iconic locations in Philadelphia and Baltimore.

“Since the beginning, the Zevo 600 has been a record-setting vehicle. Now we’re seeing firsthand what BrightDrop can do by pairing our zero-operating-emissions technology with FedEx, a leader in the transportation and delivery industry,” said Travis Katz, BrightDrop president and CEO. “Having a long battery range with reliable power is critical to electrifying delivery fleets everywhere. This special delivery highlights our products’ advanced capabilities and our mission to decarbonize deliveries.”

The development time for the Zevo 600 was also record-setting, at least within GM. The delivery van went into production just 20 months after its inception, making it the fastest vehicle to market in the automaker’s history.

This wasn’t just a publicity stunt, though. The electric vehicle actually delivered some Full Circle sustainable cleaning supplies from that company’s headquarters to the MOM’s Organic Market in Washington, D.C., a chain of organic grocery stores.

“Congratulations to Stephen Marlin, BrightDrop, and FedEx on achieving the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the greatest distance traveled by an electric van on a single charge,” said Andy Glass, adjudicator, GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS. “This accomplishment is a perfect example of the extraordinary efforts taken to make a difference for the environment and a fitting way to commemorate Earth Day 2022. We welcome them into the family of GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title holders.”

Built on GM’s Ultium platform, the BrightDrop Zevo 600 offers more than 600 cubic feet (16,990 lt) of cargo space and has an estimated payload of around 2,200 lbs (998 kg). The company, meanwhile, has already secured more than 25,000 production reservations for its two vehicles, the Zevo 600 and the smaller 400.
