How Do You Feel About A 1973 Porsche 911 Targa That Ditched Its Flat-Six In Favor Of A Chevy V8?

This 1973 Porsche 911 Targa may not seem particularly special but a lot of changes have been made under this skin, ensuring it is unlike any other.

The car has been listed up for sale through Exotic Car Trader and is located in Oregon. When it was new, the 911 Targa would have featured a naturally aspirated six-cylinder but that engine is gone and sitting in its place is a 350 cubic-inch Chevrolet V8. That’s right, someone has managed to stuff a V8 into the 911’s engine bay.

The person who modified the 911 didn’t stop there either. The V8 in question features aluminum heads and a polished aluminum intake manifold. It also sports a Holley 4 barrel carburetor and ceramic coated headers. Other important mechanical upgrades made include the fitment of a front-mounted aluminum radiator, braided fuel lines, aluminum plug wire separators, chrome oil pan, dual reservoir brake booster, and upgraded front suspension. The car is also rocking disc brakes from a 1997 911 Turbo at all four corners and has the four-speed transaxle of a 930.

Further aiding in the car’s performance are 17-inch Michelin Pilot SX tires, a stainless steel exhaust system, and coilovers at the rear.

A host of visual and interior changes have been made to the car. For example, there are front front and rear fenders, custom brake cooling vents, a large Whale Tail rear spoiler, and a painted front bumper. Found within are a white instrument cluster, a Sony audio system with AM/FM radio and six speakers, a Unicat Bearcat scanner, a built-in radar scanner, leather bucket seats, custom carpeting, and a Vintage Air A/C system.

The listing notes the car has been driven just 3,400 miles (5,471 km) since its new powertrain was fitted and it has an asking price of $99,999.
