VW Tiguan Allspace Adventure Special Edition With Five Seats Debuts In Australia

The VW Tiguan Allspace is a long-wheelbase variant of the regular Tiguan which in most markets outside the US is exclusively offered with a seven-seater, three-row configuration. However, Australia just got a new special edition called the Tiguan Allspace Adventure, which sheds the third row for extra cargo space while adding some extra kit for adventure-seekers.

Starting with the most important feature of the Allspace Adventure, the boot has a capacity of 760 lt (26.8 cubic feet) with all five seats in place, which is 60 lt (2.1 cubic feet) more than the seven-seater Allspace in the same configuration since the third row has been removed.

Visually, the model looks like any other facelifted Allspace, with the longer rear doors betraying the stretched 2,791 mm (109.9 inches) wheelbase. The Adventure trim brings a set of 17-inch Dublin alloy wheels with taller-profile tires, LED headlights and taillights, and black cladding on the lower part of the bodywork.

Honoring its name, the SUV is also fitted with a 180-amp alternator and a larger capacity battery suitable for powering appliances during camping, plus an underbody guard for extra protection. VW is also offering accessory packs including features like snow chains, all-weather floor mats, sun blinds, a hard-wearing boot liner, and a load protector.

Standard equipment includes progressive steering, sport suspension, three-zone climate control, heated seats upholstered in cloth, wireless phone charging, a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro instrument cluster, plus an 8-inch touchscreen for the infotainment that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, voice and gesture control. Like in other facelifted AU-spec Tiguans, the standard IQ.Drive suite of ADAS includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring and more.

The Adventure trim is exclusively available with the top-of-the-range turbocharged 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder petrol engine producing 217 hp (162 kW / 220 PS) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and VW’s 4Motion system.

The VW Tiguan Allspace Adventure is reserved for the Australian market, with 1,000 units offered initially starting from August 2022. The special edition is priced at $51,990 AUD ($37,428), making it cheaper than the seven-seater Elegance and R-Line trims with the same engine.
