Deserts Beware As Ram Introduces 702 HP TRX Sandblast Edition

Summer is about to get more exciting as Ram has introduced the 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition.

Based on the “quickest, fastest and most powerful mass-produced truck in the world,” the Sandblast Edition features a unique Mojave Sand exterior with TRX graphics and black 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires. The truck also incorporates practical items such as a spray-in bedliner, cargo tie-downs, and a bed step.

Moving into the cabin, buyers will find black leather seats with light frost contrast stitching and “TRX” embroidery on the backrests. They’re joined by a flat-bottom steering wheel, carbon fiber trim, and a unique center console badge.

Since the special edition comes equipped with the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group, buyers will also find a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. They’re joined by a digital rearview mirror, a head-up display, and a wireless smartphone charger.

The truck also boasts adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and a pedestrian emergency braking system. Other safety features include a surround view camera and a blind spot monitoring system with rear cross path detection.

While the changes are relatively minor, the TRX is most notable for featuring a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 702 hp (523 kW / 712 PS) and 650 lb-ft (880 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard four-wheel drive system. This allows the truck to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds, run the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph (174 km/h), and hit a top speed of 118 mph (190 km/h).

The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition will go on sale in a few weeks and pricing starts at $98,285 before a $1,795 destination fee.
