Hyundai Ioniq 6 Promises To Be An “Electrified Streamliner” In First Teaser Video

With the fate of the original Hyundai Ioniq now sealed, the company is turning its attention to the upcoming Ioniq 6.

As part of this effort, Hyundai has launched a new teaser campaign that says the model will be an “electrified streamliner” with a “simple yet sensuous” design that will become the “silhouette of the new era.”

Unfortunately, Hyundai isn’t showing much as the car doesn’t make an appearance and the automaker only showed an aerodynamic shape that looks like it was sculpted by the wind. Of course, the car isn’t much of a secret as it was previewed by the Prophecy concept and has been spied on numerous occasions.

While prototypes have been heavily camouflaged, Hyundai isn’t kidding about the sleek shape as the Ioniq 6 will have a curvaceous front bumper and headlights inspired by the concept. Other notable highlights will include a parabolic shoulder line, a four-door coupe like greenhouse, and a sensuous rear end with pixel-style taillights.

The stylish design will continue in the cabin as a previous video revealed the model will have a two-tone interior with a floating center console and roomy rear seats. We can also expect a digital instrument cluster and a widescreen infotainment system as well as ribbed door panels with floating armrests.

We’ll find out more when the Ioniq 6 debuts later this year, but the company has already revealed the Sonata-sized EV will ride on the E-GMP platform and feature a 73 kWh battery pack as well as two different powertrains. The first has a single electric motor producing 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS), while the second has a dual-motor system with a combined output of 308 hp (230 kW / 313 PS). The Ioniq 6 is also targeted to have a range in excess of 300 miles (483 km).
