Osprey’s Latest Land Rover Defender 90 Is Ready To Tackle Any Terrain

Osprey Custom Cars revealed its latest restomod Land Rover Defender, this time transforming a 90 soft-top model into a vehicle just as well-suited to off-roading as it is turning heads on Rodeo Drive.

In overhauling the Defender, Osprey stripped it back to its chassis and then painted the body panels in a lovely shade known as Corris Gray. A black powder-coated four-point roll cage has also been added, as well as a new tight-fitting black soft top with roll-up/zip-out rear windows.

The company even added some fancy anodized black aluminum door, hood, and windscreen hinges, alongside matching door handles. Found up front is a black grille with body-colored light surrounds, gloss black intakes, and twin LED running lamps incorporated into the bumper. Completing the exterior changes are a rear-step bumper, a two-inch hitch receiver, jacking/recovery points, a trailer wiring harness, and a heavy-duty swing-away rear tire carrier.

The interior is also much more well-equipped than a standard Defender. For example, it now sports a heated windshield, and heated front seats while at the rear are four side-facing seats that can be easily folded away. A 7-inch infotainment system has also been fitted with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An eight-speaker audio system from Rockford Fosgate further adds to the desirability of the off-roader.

Some of the most significant upgrades have been made under the skin. Most notably, the Defender is rocking a 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated LS3 V8 engine pumping out 435 hp and 445 lb-ft (603 Nm) of torque. Coupled with this V8 is a six-speed automatic transmission and a heavy-duty LT230 transfer case. The powertrain also includes custom headers, a new exhaust, Grin aluminum radiator, electric cooling fans, stainless steel oil cooler lines, stainless steel brake lines, stainless steel fuel lines, a heavy-duty rear axle, and a heavy-duty front axle with upgraded CV joints.
