Are you the type of enthusiast who misses the Plymouth brand and dreams of an alternate timeline when the Plymouth GTX was the retro-modern car that Chrysler put out in 2008 instead of the Dodge Challenger? Then this one might be for you.
This 2010 Dodge Challenger was built by Steve Mirabelli of Hendrick Motorsports and has been modified to look like a modern interpretation of the Plymouth GTX.
The result of the build that took four years, this project started in 2017 with a car that had been deemed a “total loss,” according to CarFax. That designation followed a life of trials and tribulations in which the car hit a deer in 2013 and suffered “moderate damage” and fire damage in January 2017 to the front right side. When the restoration process came to an end in 2021, though, it received a Reconstructed and Rebuilt title.

The new Plymouth GTX body panels are custom fabricated steel and the custom front fascia comes with integrated fog lamps, a front spoiler, and custom headlamps. The body is painted Tangelo orange, with a complimentary matte black hood and fender stripes. In fact, if you want a much more detailed look at everything that went into this build, you can get it straight from the horse’s mouth thanks to a series of videos that tracked the build.
The car sits on staggered 20-inch five-spoke Coys wheels that are wrapped in 275/40 Nitto rubber at the front and 315/35 tires at the back. It has SRT-8 spindles, Eibach lowering springs, and red Brembo brake calipers with slotted discs. Powering the car is a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that gets its power to the wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, meanwhile, it has white Katzkin leather seats with orange stitching to match the car’s exterior. This being a Challenger from 2010, it is devoid of infotainment screens but it does come with an AM/FM stereo and a CD player.
The car has 97,000 miles (156,106 km) on its odo, so it isn’t exactly a spring chicken but it is certainly unique. And if that appeals to you, it could be yours because it’s selling today on Bring a Trailer.
