Brand New 2023 Range Rover Decapitated After Falling Off Car Carrier And Colliding With Honda

A brand new Range Rover being transported through Paramus, New Jersey, fell off the back of a car carrier on Thursday morning. In the ensuing chaos, a Honda Accord was hit causing an injury, says photographer Boyd A. Loving who was at the scene.

The crash occurred on Route 17 under the West Midland Avenue bridge, but the reasons for the accident remain unclear. The extent of the injuries and the precisely who suffered them is not clear at this time, either.

As you can see from the photos and video that Boyd shared with Carscoops, though, the accident was bad enough as to require both involved vehicles to be towed away from the scene. The damage on the Accord looks less severe than it does on the Range Rover but there is evidence of impact at the front and sides of the sedan.

The damage to the Range Rover, meanwhile, appears to be catastrophic. The rear liftgate has been destroyed and the roof peeled open. Most of the impact, though, appears to be located around the rear and sides of the vehicle. There is no indication that any of the other Range Rovers on the car carrier were damaged in this incident.

After first responders arrived at the scene of the accident, which occurred at around 8:30 a.m., the road was closed until about 9:00 a.m., reports the Daily Voice.

Although many details surrounding the accident are unknown, the car carrier was headed north, in the direction of Jaguar Land Rover’s U.S. headquarters. Photos of the totaled Range Rover reveal it had California manufacturer’s plates on it, suggesting that the vehicles may indeed have been intended for use by the automaker.

Range Rover confirmed to Road & Track that it is aware of this accident, but did not say whether or not the vehicle was headed towards its headquarters. Although it’s uncertain how this vehicle was equipped, prices for the 2023 Range Rover start at $104,000.
