This McLaren Sabre Is One Of Just 15 Units Ever Produced

An extraordinarily rare McLaren Sabre will be sold by Mecum Auctions during its Monterey sales event running from August 18-20.

Just 15 examples of the Sabre were built, all for the U.S. market and only available to the automaker’s best clients. The car was built by McLaren Special Operations and is underpinned by the same carbon fiber monocoque as the hardcore Senna.

This particular Sabre is number 11 and the exterior is made up of a combination of exposed carbon fiber panels, parts painted in Liquid Argentum, and accents in Liquid Papaya. While the underpinnings of the Sabra are similar to other McLaren models, the exterior features all-new parts and takes inspiration from McLaren’s Vision Gran Turismo Concept unveiled back in 2017.

Among the most noteworthy changes made to the car include an entirely bespoke front fascia with redesigned headlights, large air vents, and an altogether sleek shape. Viewed from the side, the radical door skins, skirts, and rocker panels really catch the eye, as does the large motorsport-inspired carbon fiber shark fin running over the engine cover to improve stability at high speeds. The rear end takes things to new levels thanks to a massive wing, a decklid similar to the Speedtail, and a huge diffuser.

Found in the cabin of this Sabre are a number of other unique touches. Most notably, the driver’s seat is bathed in Volcano Orange while the passenger seat is trimmed in Carbon Black. Liquid Papaya accents are also found throughout, as are a host of satin carbon fiber parts and brushed Azores air vent surrounds, paddle shifters, and touchscreen bezel.

The listing reveals that this example has been driven just 100 miles (160 km) since new.

Powering the McLaren Sabre is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine pumping out 824 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. The British supercar can hit a top speed of 218 mph (351 km/h).
