The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is all-new, but it’s not the brand’s first electric vehicle and it certainly won’t be their last.
Chevrolet officials made that clear during a recent media preview, where they noted the Bolt has been on sale since 2016 and this has given their customers and dealers years of experience with electric vehicles. While they acknowledged it’s a “different ball game today,” this familiarity should give them a leg up on competitors who are just starting to go electric.
The benefits of this experience are immediately clear, when you consider a number of Chevrolet dealers already have EV chargers installed. Besides having infrastructure in place, Chevrolet dealerships have sales people with experience selling EVs. This is important as many consumers have questions about owning an electric vehicle and studies have shown 66% of people think electric vehicles have a gas engine.

Speaking of dealers, Chevrolet is encouraging them to stand by manufacturer suggested retail prices (MSRP) for the Blazer EV. Only time will tell if dealers fall in line, but the company likely hopes that dealers will recognize the damage that markups cause not only to themselves but to the brand as well.
On the topic of pricing, the Blazer EV starts at $44,995 and climbs to $65,995 for the range-topping SS variant. Those prices are largely competitive with rivals, but it’s important to note the model isn’t eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit. This could limit the Blazer EV’s appeal, but cost-conscious consumers can look forward to the 2024 Equinox EV that will arrive in the fall of 2023 with a base price of around $30,000.
