One-Off Bugatti La Voiture Noire Spotted On The Streets Of Zurich

The Bugatti La Voiture Noire might have lost the title of the most expensive new car in the world by the Rolls-Royce Boat Tail, but it remains a very special piece of automotive history. The one-off special from Molsheim was spotted in Switzerland, driving on the streets of Zurich.

This is most likely the first public outing of the La Voiture Noire. With such a high value, we would expect the Chiron-based model to be treated like a garage queen, but it seems that the owner decided to take it for a spin. The vehicle was driven slow on paved roads turning the heads of pedestrians with its low-slung proportions, curved body, massive alloy wheels, and futuristic jewel-like LEDs contrasting the dark-themed specification. In the video below, you can even hear the growl of the W16 engine at low revs, coming out of the six tailpipes.

Naturally, a hypercar like this can’t go unnoticed, with pictures and videos finding their way to social media, by those who understand the significance of any Bugatti, let alone this unique and ultra-expensive model. Instagram users @antonbenoist, @leyoungcollector, and @frenchgentleman were lucky enough to spot the La Voiture Noire on the flesh while walking around Zurich and were kind enough to let us publish their photos.

The Bugatti La Voiture Noire was originally introduced at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, but the presentation vehicle was still in concept form. The final production model was delivered to the owner in June 2021, after completing two years of rigorous testing that every Bugatti needs to go through. Despite being a one-off that is closely related to the Chiron, the automaker made sure that the La Voiture Noire is on par with their high standards for production vehicles in terms of usability, aerodynamics, safety, handling, and performance.

Numbers do not matter that much when it comes to coachbuilt hypercars, especially if they are designed as a homage to the legendary Type 57 SC Atlantic owned by Jean Bugatti himself. Still, the La Voiture Noire is fitted with Bugatti’s 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine, producing a monstrous 1,479 hp (1,103 kW / 1,500 PS) and 1,600 Nm (1,180 lb-ft) of torque.

We hope that the owner of the Bugatti La Voiture Noire will enjoy the car as much as possible, resulting in other public sightings in the future.
