Las Vegas Man Arrested After Speeding Twice In Two Minutes In 35 MPH Zone

The driver of a Chevrolet Camaro SS in Las Vegas has been slapped with two speeding tickets in two minutes after he decided to have a little too much fun behind the wheel of the powerful muscle car.

Jeffrey Hair was first stopped by North Las Vegas Police officer Alexander Cuevas on Friday, July 15 at 8:22 p.m. at Lake Mead Boulevard and McDaniel. He was clocked driving at 73 mph (117 km/h) in a 35 mph (56 km/h) zone. For most people, that would serve as a harsh wake-up call and encourage them to change their behavior and slow down immediately. That’s not what happened in this case.

3 News reports that less than two minutes after officers cleared the first traffic stop, the 36-year-old was pulled over once again, albeit this time on 5th Street south of Brooks. Not only was he pulled over and stopped for speeding for a second time but he was driving even faster this time, recorded traveling at 106 mph (170 km/h) in a 35 mph (56 km/h) zone.

Hair wasn’t just issued a speeding ticket for this second offense. Instead, he was arrested and booked on reckless driving charges. Authorities also towed his Camaro.

Police say that the arrest occurred during a multi-jurisdictional “joining forces” event between multiple Las Vegas police departments, aimed at cracking down on speeding drivers like Hair.

As a reminder, the Chevrolet Camaro SS is powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 pumping out 455 hp and 455 lb-ft (617 Nm) of torque. It may not be the fastest or most powerful Camaro on the market but it delivers more than enough performance to get you in trouble. Best to keep speeding like this to the track, then.
