577 HP McLaren Artura Trophy Revealed For New Racing Series

McLaren has introduced the new Artura Trophy, which will compete in a new racing championship aptly named the McLaren Trophy.

Starting with the car, the Artura Trophy is based on the Artura GT4 but has been “freed from Balance of Power (BoP) regulations.” This meant McLaren was free to remove weight, improve aerodynamic performance, and allow the twin-turbo V6 engine to produce it’s full output of 577 hp (430 kW / 585 PS).

The automaker didn’t go into many specifics, but noted the Artura Trophy has been equipped with a high-downforce wing and an enhanced exhaust system that enables the car to “sound just as spectacular as it looks.” They’re joined by a front splitter, dive planes, and black wheels wrapped in Pirelli tires.

McLaren decided to ditch the road-going model’s hybrid system, so owners can easily convert their car to GT4-specification by adjusting the engine management software and changing the aerodynamic package. This is a boon for buyers as they’ll be able to compete in GT4 events without having to purchase a separate race car.

As for the McLaren Trophy series, it’s billed as a “new racing championship designed to challenge and develop Pro-Am driver pairings within a sociable environment at some of Europe’s best racing circuits.” Five different events are on the 2023 calendar and it includes big names such as Paul Ricard, Spa-Francorchamps, Hockenheim, and Barcelona.

Since living the life of a racer isn’t easy, McLaren Trophy drivers will have access to a McLaren Concierge service, which is “aimed at providing a seamless experience including hotel bookings and transfers, ensuring that the competitor’s focus is entirely on their on-track performance.”
