Ferrari is recalling more than 23,500 vehicles across the United States due to a braking issue.
An investigation from the Italian car manufacturer has revealed that certain vehicles may be fitted with a brake reservoir fluid cap that may not vent properly. This could create a vacuum inside the brake fluid reservoir that could trigger a brake fluid leak and lead to a partial or total loss of braking, increasing the risk of a crash and injury.
Some impacted vehicles will display a warning light of the brake fluid reservoir decreased by approximately 50 per cent of the maximum level while others will display a message on the dashboard reading ‘Brake fluid level low, Go to dealer slowly.’ Other models will emit an acoustic buzzer if the issue is found to be present.

The recall impacts a plethora of Ferrari models dating back from as early as 2004 all the way through to 2022. A total of 23,555 vehicles are involved.
The first are all Ferrari 430 models built between March 16, 2005 and September 2010. The recall also impacts 488 Pista models built from January 1, 2019 to November 9, 2020, F60 America models built between June 19, 2015 and September 23, 2016, 612 Scaglietti models from March 30, 2004 to February 28, 2011, 812 models produced between September 27, 2017 and July 22, 2022, and California models from February 13, 2009 to October 23, 2017.
Moreover, it also affects F12s manufactured from December 10, 2012 to July 19, 2017, F8 models from August 2, 2019 to July 22, 2022, FF models from September 1, 2011 to March 24, 2016, GTC4Lusso models built between July 19, 2016 and July 24, 2020, LaFerrari models produced from July 25, 2013 to December 5, 2017, Portofinos built from April 9, 2018 to July 21, 2022, and every Roma built between May 12, 2020 and July 15, 2022.
Ferrari will resolve the issue by replacing the brake fluid reservoir cap and updating the software in affected vehicles to provide a different warning if the vehicle loses sufficient brake fluid. Both dealerships and owners will be notified of the recall on or before September 24, 2022.
