Ford F-150 Lightning Gains 10 Miles Of Range, But Pricing Jumps $7,000 To Begin At $46,974

The days of the Ford F-150 Lightning being a remarkable deal are over as the company is raising prices “due to significant material cost increases and other factors.”

As a result, customers placing an order for a new F-150 Lightning will have to shell out $46,974 for the entry-level Pro variant. That’s $7,000 more than before and an increase of nearly 18%.

The bad news doesn’t end there as the XLT trim climbs from $52,974 to $59,474 for an increase of $6,500. Continuing up the trim ladder, the XLT High now starts at $68,474 and climbs to $80,974 with the Extended Range battery. The Lariat will set you back $74,474 or $85,974 with the Extended Range battery. Lastly, the range-topping Platinum Extended Range will now retail for $96,874.

The drastic price increases – which range from $6,000 to $8,500 – are sure to disappoint, but Ford noted they’re “adjusting the MSRP on the F-150 Lightning for the first time since it was revealed in May 2021 and has honored MSRP for all customer orders to date.” Current order holders awaiting delivery are not impacted by the price increases and the company said, “Lightning reservation holders who previously received an invitation to order, but who elected to extend their reservation because their vehicle specification was unavailable, will receive a private offer for use in upcoming waves.”

The price increases were announced ahead of order banks reopening on Thursday for the next wave of reservation holders.

More Range And New Colors

Putting pricing aside, Ford announced F-150 Lightnings equipped with the standard range battery will now have a targeted EPA-estimated range of 240 miles (386 km). That’s a small increase from the previous rating of 230 miles (370 km).

Ford is also updating the truck’s color palette as Avalanche Gray and Azure Gray metallic tri-coat are new to the lineup. They’re replacing Atlas Blue, Ice Blue Silver, and Smoked Quartz Metallic which are disappearing this fall.

Other changes include the availability of Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, which controls steering, throttle and brake inputs to make hitching trailers easier. Pro Trailer Hitch Assist is now included as part of the Tow Technology Package, which is available on Pro, XLT and Lariat trims as well as standard on the Platinum and certain Lariat variants.

Last but not least, Ford will offer a Special Service Vehicle Package on the F-150 Lightning Pro. Designed to appeal to fleet customers, the package includes police-grade heavy-duty cloth front seats, built-in steel intrusion plates, and available roof-mounted LED warning beacons.
