Skoda Enyaq iV Has Battery Optimized And Faster Charging Through Software Update

Skoda has just rolled out its new ME3 software update for Enyaq iV models already in the hands of customers.

The software update is available free of charge, although it can not be installed over-the-air and from the comfort of an owner’s home. Instead, local Skoda retailers will contact Enyaq iV owners and ask them to arrange a free service appointment where the software will be installed. The whole process takes around five hours and importantly, once the ME3 software is installed, over-the-air updates will be introduced in the future.

The ME3 update has a key focus on optimizing the battery and charging. One new feature is a battery care mode that will ensure the battery is only charged to a maximum of 80 per cent, helping to conserve the battery and extend its service life. The maximum charging rate will also increase to 120 kW for vehicles with the 62 kWh battery and 135 kW for those with the larger 82 kWh battery. Owners with the charging capped at 50 kW will need to upgrade their charging rate via the approved Skoda accessory upgrade.

Elsewhere, Skoda has included new charging and range graphics in the infotainment system that includes a display of the destination and any required charging stops. Improvements have also been made to the Virtual Cockpit and the head-up display. The rear-view camera also offers increased contrast with improved visibility while a button on the steering wheel also allows the driver to now switch between Adaptive Cruise Control and Travel Assist.

All newly-built Skoda Enyaq iV models will come with the new ME3 software as standard.

The launch of this update comes alongside Skoda’s announcement that it has delivered more than 70,000 Enyaq iV models to customers, giving it a 3.5 per cent share of the all-electric vehicle market in Europe.
