Lexus To Offer First 500 Special Edition IS500s Through Lottery System In Japan

Pricing details for the potent Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance have just been announced for Japan, approximately four weeks after the car was first unveiled for the local market.

To celebrate the launch of the model, Lexus has announced that a special IS 500 F Sport Performance First Edition will be made available to customers. Just 500 examples will be produced and customers will be selected through a lottery system.

Prices for the ‘standard’ IS 500 F Sport Performance kick off from 8,500,000 yen ($62,163). For that figure, shoppers will enjoy largely the same performance that the IS 500 offers in overseas markets. That means there is a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 that pumps out 475 hp and 395 lb-ft (535 Nm) of torque. Coupled to this engine is an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power through the rear wheels courtesy of a Torsen limited-slip differential.

Elsewhere, Lexus has equipped the sports sedan with its adaptive variable suspension (AVS), performance dampers, and beefed-up brakes with discs measuring 14-inches (356 mm) at the front and 12.7-inches (323 mm) at the rear.

A number of unique touches distinguish the First Edition model from the standard car. For example, it comes equipped with unique 19-inch forged aluminum BBS wheels finished in matte black, has black wing mirrors, a wooden ash design across certain interior panels, a unique leather steering wheel, Ultrasuede materials, and a special plaque designating it as an ‘IS 500 First Edition.’

Local pricing for the limited-run model starts at 9,000,000 yen ($65,820).
