The Will.I.Am Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Looks Utterly Bizarre

This is ‘The Flip,’ a unique take on the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe that was conceived by musician will.i.am and brought to life earlier this year.

Significant changes have been made to the car and although they won’t be to everyone’s taste, they result in a very striking vehicle which, somehow, is more restrained than some of will.i.am’s other vehicles over the years.

The most obvious alterations have been made at the front end where The Flip looks more like a G-Class thanks to the circular headlights, rectangular grille, and eye-catching air intakes. There’s also the face of a bear in the center of the grille, complete with a black three-pointed star serving as its “face”.

Things don’t stop at the front end. A set of 1980s-inspired wheels have been designed for the car while it has also been transformed from a four-door into a two-door. It’s not just any two-door, either, and instead features massive suicide doors to access the luxurious interior. The rear is largely similar to the standard GT 4-Door but does rock a subtle lip spoiler, tinted taillights, unique badges, and a more outlandish diffuser with a matte carbon fiber finish.

While it would be easy to assume that will.i.am built this car purely for his own enjoyment, his partnership with Mercedes-Benz was conceived to help provide arts and science education to those from disadvantaged communities. The partnership also led to the creation of an apparel collection dubbed Bear Witness that will donate part of its profits to the i.am/Angel Foundation that provides science, technology, engineering, arts, and math education to those communities that need it the most.
