Iron Man Getting Video Game From the EA Studio Behind Dead Space Remake – CNET

Iconic Marvel hero Iron Man is getting a “single-player, third-person, action-adventure” video game from Motive, the studio behind the upcoming Dead Space remake, publisher EA said Tuesday. It’ll let you play as Tony Stark’s Avenger alter ego in an original story that’ll tap into the character’s “rich history.”

The development team is being led by Olivier Proulx, who produced last year’s excellent Guardians of the Galaxy game, and he noted that his team has been given a lot of flexibility with this project.

“We have a great opportunity to create a new and unique story that we can call our own,” Proulx said in a statement. “Marvel is encouraging us to create something fresh. We have a lot of freedom, which is so engaging for the team.”

Marvel Games Creative Director Bill Rosemann expressed his excitement about working with Motive, which previously worked on the single player campaign in 2017’s Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and 2020 space battler Star Wars: Squadrons.

“Their experience delivering both established entertainment worlds and thrilling gameplay — combined with their authentic passion for the armored icon — will fuel our quest to deliver a love letter to a legendary hero in the form of the ultimate Iron Man video game,” Rosemann said in a release.

The game is still in preproduction, so it could be a while before we see any gameplay, learn what platforms it’ll be available on or get a hint of a release date. We’ll just have to gaze at the teaser image until the project is farther along, imagine all the different armors we’ll be able to fly around in (fingers crossed for the Modular and Prometheum ones).

Tuesday’s announcement also noted that Iron Man is “the first of several new games” in a new collaboration between Marvel and EA, with GameIndustry reporting that the companies confirmed that other titles are in the works (but also in early stages).

Iron Man isn’t the only Avenger to have a single player game announced in recent weeks — a World War II-set Captain America and Black Panther game was revealed during Disney’s D23 Expo earlier this month. A Marvel strategy game, Midnight Suns, is also due out Dec. 2.
