Brabus unveiled their take on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class last year, but the tuner is back for more, revisiting the even more luxurious Mercedes-Maybach S580. The Brabus 600, as it is called, sports a carbon-fiber bodykit, a turquoise makeover inside the cabin, and a power boost for the V8 engine.
Starting with the exterior, the limousine has carbon fiber treatment on the bumper intake surrounds, the prominent splitter, and the diffuser trim. The usual brightware has been replaced by a dark Shadow Chrome finish, combined with a new set of Shadow Gray 22-inch BRABUS Monoblock M “Platinum Edition” forged wheels that look similar to the original design. Finally, the tuner added Barbus Masterpiece badges on the front fenders and the D-pillars.

The interior upgrades are less subtle than the dark-themed exterior. A new Turquoise Blue leather upholstery covers most surfaces all around the cabin, with a Brabus-specific “Seashell Diamond” quilting and black piping adding texture. The carbon fiber on the center tunnel, dashboard, and door inserts is also a Brabus-specific detail matching with the bodykit on the exterior. Equipment includes everything you would expect from a Maybach, like the ventilated and heated independent rear seats, fully digital cockpit, and fancy ambient lighting.
As always, Brabus didn’t limit itself to visual modifications. Thanks to new software, the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine produces 591 hp (441 kW / 600 PS) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque, which represents a modest increase compared to the 496 hp (370 kW / 503 PS) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of the stock Mercedes-Maybach S580, bringing it closer to the V12-powered S680 flagship. Power is transmitted to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic.
Thanks to the increased output, the Barbus 600 accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds which is 0.3 seconds faster than the stock S580, matching the time of the S680. Top speed remains electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph) as opulence is not about numbers. Setting aside the larger 22-inch wheels shod in performance tires, chassis upgrades include a 20 mm (0.8 inches) drop in the ride height with the help of the Barbus SportXtra module added on the standard height-adjustable air suspension.
Brabus hasn’t announce pricing for the tuned Maybach. Given that the tuner already offers a more powerful derivative of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, it is safe to assume that we will see more Brabus-tuned Maybach-branded S-Class models in the future.
