Automakers Under Report Lifetime Emissions, Pollute Nearly As Much As Oil Companies, NGO Claims
A new study from the NGO Transport & Environment has concluded that automotive industry emissions are, on average, 50 percent more than what is reported. According to the research, some automakers produce more CO2 than oil giants, with the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi alliance emitting nearly 10,000 tCO2e per million euros, and Honda, Ford, VW, Stellantis, and Hyundai all emitting more than the average of BP, Shell, and Exxon.
New Ferrari SP51 Is A One-Off Looker Based On The 812 GTS

Ferrari’s Special Projects department has created the one-off SP51 for a special client based in Taiwan. The unique roadster is based on the 812 GTS but features more flowing bodywork, bespoke wheels, and new headlights. One of the most eye-catching features is the transverse carbon wing which bridges the two flying buttresses at the rear.
2023 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel Improves Pickup’s Off-Road Prowess
Ram has unveiled the new 2023 2500 Heavy Duty Rebel, slotting in above the Laramie and Power Wagon variants. The new model features either a 6.7-liter Cummins turbo-diesel inline-six with 370 hp and 850 lb-ft (1,152 Nm) of torque or a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with 410 hp and 429 lb-ft (582 Nm) of torque. There’s a Sport Performance hood from Mopar, 20-inch wheels as standard (18s optional), and skid plates to protect the fuel tank and transfer case. Sales start later this year with an MSRP of $67,045 plus a $1,895 destination fee.

After the reveal of the “regular” XM earlier this week, BMW has now shown us a single image of the range-topping Label Red version. As the name implies, there’s plenty of red on offer, with accents on the grilles, side window surrounds, and wheels. There’s more to be revealed, such as the acceleration figures and interior, but for now, we know it’ll output 738 hp (748 PS / 550kW) and 735 lb-ft (997 Nm) of peak torque.
Opel/Vauxhall Astra GSe Is An Electrified Warm Hatch And Estate With 222 HP
It was barely two weeks ago that Opel announced the GSe (Grand Sport Electric) subbrand, and the Astra hatch and estate have already made an appearance. They’re fitted with the same PHEV powertrain as their Stellantis stablemate, the Peugeot 308, and produce 222 hp (165 kW / 225 PS) of power and 360 Nm (265.5 lb-ft) of torque. While that’s not exactly modern hot-hatch performance, it’s safe to say they’re warm.
Brabus Gives The Mercedes-Maybach S580 A Minty Makeover

The Brabus 600 is the German tuner’s take on the Mercedes-Maybach S580. It features a carbon fiber bodykit, dark Shadow Chrome finish on the brightwork, and 22-inch BRABUS Monoblock M “Platinum Edition” forged wheels. Inside, things are a little less subtle, with new Turquoise Blue leather upholstery covering most surfaces all around the cabin. Under the hood, the 600’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine has been made to output 591 hp (441 kW / 600 PS) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque, which is sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic.

Hurricane Ian was downgraded to a Tropical Storm on Thursday morning, but Florida continues to be hit with a deluge of rain, causing flooding as well as damaging winds. Speaking to Good Morning America, Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said that the death toll could be in the 100s, reports The Orlando Sentinel.
