Vauxhall Vivaro Gains Sporty GS Trim And More Powerful Diesel Engine

Fans of sporty vans rejoice as Vauxhall added the GS trim to the Vivaro range in the UK. The GS is available for both the diesel-powered Vivaro and the zero-emission Vivaro Electric, including styling upgrades, interior features, and a GS-exclusive diesel engine with more power.

Starting with the exterior, the Vivaro GS gains a pronounced front splitter, side skirts, a redesigned rear bumper, and a fancy roof-mounted spoiler. The exterior is complimented by a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels finished in black. Inside we find a new pair of seats with hand-crafter wear-resistant perforated eco-leather upholstery featuring red stitching and GS branding.

The styling upgrades were announced only for the UK-spec Vauxhall Vivaro in Panel Van and Doublecab flavors. However, those parts should be compatible with the Opel Vivaro / Zafira Life twin, and most likely with the rest of Stellantis’ sibling van lineup in both passenger and LCV forms.

Thankfully, the GS trim is combined with increased power output – at least for the diesel-powered model. The more powerful version of the 2.0-liter Turbo D diesel engine produces 178 hp (132 kW / 180 PS), which represents an increase of 35 hp (26 kW / 35 PS) compared to the standard mill. Power is transmitted to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

As for the Vivaro Electric GS, this one retains the stock electric motor producing 134 hp (100 kW / 136 PS) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque, as well as the 75 kWh lithium-ion battery which is good for a WLTP range of 189 miles (304 km) between charges.

Pricing for the Vauxhall Vivaro GS starts from £41,000 ($46,567) excluding VAT, while the Vivaro Electric GS costs £55,000 ($62,468). Vauxhall is not the only brand that is offering a sporty trim for its vans in the UK, as Ford is a long-time supporter of the trend.
