Hyundai’s ‘Defying Convention’ Documentary Is All About Ioniq

The Hyundai Ioniq brand was only formed in August 2020 and already, its first two electric vehicles, the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, have launched to critical acclaim in markets around the world. To help celebrate the early success of the Ioniq brand, the South Korean car manufacturer has released a 10-minute documentary dubbed ‘Defying Convention.’

The documentary is available in full on Hyundai’s website while a shorter, 5-minute version has been shared to YouTube. The documentary is narrated by Erin Baker, an automotive journalist and World Car of the Year juror, and features interviews with Hyundai employees, executives, and researchers who played important roles in the development of the Ioniq 5.

The Hyundai Ioniq brand is only just getting started. Not only are the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 pushing the automaker into the future but soon, Hyundai’s N performance division will release its own version of the Ioniq 5. Furthermore, Hyundai is also in the midst of developing an all-new electric model dubbed the Ioniq 7, taking the form of a large SUV that will act as an electric alternative to the three-row Palisade.
