There are plenty of Porsche 944s on the roads but this example available through Bring a Trailer is more special than most.

What you’re looking at is a 944 known as the ‘Celebration Edition.’ It was built to celebrate Porsche building 100,000 examples of the 944 and capped at just 500 units. A handful of distinctive features make it stand out from a regular 944.

For starters, Porsche only offered the 944 Celebration Edition in Zermatt Silver Metallic or Satin Black Metallic. It also equipped the car with 16-inch ‘telephone dial’ wheels wrapped in 205/55 front and 225/50 rear tires. Integrated fog lights are also found up front.

The listing reveals that this example was originally registered in Massachusetts but has also lived in Canada and Switzerland before it was re-imported back into the United States. It is up for sale in New Jersey and being sold with manufacturer’s literature, an accident-free Carfax report, and expired registration in Maine.

The interior of the Porsche 944 ‘Celebration Edition’ also catches the eye thanks to the gray Studio cloth adorning the front and rear seats. The interior features gray carpets, is fitted with power windows and has a JVC AM/FM cassette stereo. Also found within is a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Power comes courtesy of a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four cylinder engine that produced 158 hp and 155 lb-ft (210 Nm) of torque when new. While the odometer currently reads a touch over 58,000 miles (~93,300 km), the seller notes that the odometer stopped working under previous ownership and had to be repaired, meaning the car’s total mileage isn’t known.
