Mugen Teases Tuning Kit For Japan’s Honda HR-V Called The ZR-V

The Honda ZR-V, which is what the North American Honda HR-V is called in Japan, China, and Europe, will soon be getting a makeover by Mugen. The Japanese tuner teased the upgrades with a single photo showing the modified SUV.

After increasing the brightness of the dark teaser we can see the Mugen parts that are fitted on the exterior of the Honda ZR-V. At the front, the tuner added an aluminum-style treatment on the lower part of the bumper, which appears to be more prominent while mirroring the design of the stock ZR-V.

The profile has been upgraded with a new set of larger-diameter alloy wheels. We can also see the side sill extensions that feature an aluminum finish, plus the door visors which are a quite common option among Japanese tuners. The rear end is not visible but we expect similar bumper extensions and a larger rear spoiler.

Mugen said that the upgrades follow the “Emotional Urban Sports” theme, targeting ZR-V owners who focus on styling and driving performance. Therefore, the tuning kit might also include mechanical upgrades. Mugen has launched a new exhaust system and a “Performance Damper” kit for the Honda Civic, so something similar could be offered for the ZR-V.

We will learn more about the modifications when Mugen reveals the whole package in the coming weeks. The tuner will start taking orders for the Honda ZR-V parts on April 21, 2023. For those who can’t wait, Honda is already offering accessories for the SUV, even though those are making it look more adventurous rather than sporty.

The Honda ZR-V is already available in Japan, China, and North America where it is called HR-V, while in 2023 it will also be offered in Europe.
