2023 Nissan Z Gets New Engine Tuning Package By Nismo In Japan

Owners of the Nissan Fairlady Z in Japan can now improve the engine performance of their sportscar thanks to the new “Nismo Sports Resetting Type 2” tuning package.

According to Nissan, the “Nismo Sports Resetting Type 2” improves the engine’s output characteristics by altering the boost pressure and the ignition timing. This is made possible thanks to a dedicated Engine Control Module and without any changes in the hardware. Besides the engine tweaks, Nismo claims an improved acceleration response in low and medium revs, although this is only compatible with vehicles fitted with the automatic gearbox and with the “Sports” driving mode activated.

What’s really curious, however, is that the company didn’t release any specific figures for the Nismo ECM. The 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged VR30DDTT V6 of the Fairlady Z produces 400 hp (298 kW / 405 PS) and 475 Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque in stock form.

The “Nismo Sports Resetting Type 2″ is currently the only upgrade available for the latest RZ34 generation of the Nissan Z, although this is expected to change in the future. Nismo is offering a wide range of tuning options for the previous generations of the Z sportscar, including exhaust systems and other performance-focused components for the engine and the drivetrain. In the US, Nissan will soon offer a range of Nismo upgrades for the Z including adjustable coilovers, anti-roll bars, larger brakes, a new intercooler, a cold air intake, an exhaust system, and a flywheel kit.

The cost for the “Nismo Sports Resetting Type 2” in Japan is ¥143,000 ($1,044), including inspection and fitment. Nissan Fairlady Z owners can acquire the kit at the Nismo Omori Factory and Nismo Performance Center in Yokohama.
