Alcohol and high-power V10s don’t mix, as one driver recently found out in Switzerland

They say that the fastest car on earth is a rental car, so when a rented vehicle and oodles of power combine, they can make for a dangerous cocktail. One 32-year-old driver in Switzerland found that out to his cost earlier this month.
The driver was from Zurich and, with a passenger, was traveling to Bern, a 122 km (76-mile) drive, in a rented Lamborghini Huracán convertible, reports polizei.news. Less than halfway into their journey, though, near Suhr, Switzerland, the driver lost control and went off the road.
Although the precise reason for the loss of control is unknown, photos shared by the canton police show the car on a grassy berm next to the highway, behind a guardrail. Another photo shows tire marks going off the road just before the guardrail starts, sliding up the berm, and then back down again.
Fortunately, neither of the Lamborghini’s occupants were injured in the accident that happened at around 9:00 pm, nor was anyone else. The Huracán, though, was not so lucky. It suffered extensive damage to the driver’s side front quarter, which was almost entirely torn off in the accident.
As to what led the driver to lose control, it is evident. Aargau canton police found that the 32-year-old driver was heavily intoxicated at the time of the accident, and prosecutors ordered a blood test.

Following the accident, the driver’s license was temporarily revoked, and I imagine they’ll have a pretty difficult time renting another vehicle anytime soon. At least they can take solace in the fact that they didn’t really hurt anyone.
