Ford’s latest over-the-air software update for the Mustang Mach-E is out, and among the new features, it allows users to set the desired cabin temperature, fan speed, and heated seat intensity, via the large volume knob that is mounted on the infotainment touchscreen.

This welcome feature makes it easier for the driver to adjust those functions while keeping their eyes on the road, unlike the previous touch-only climate controls. In order to enable this function you just need to tap the temperature, fan, or heated seat screen control once and turn the knob to your desired level. This is another sign that automakers are gradually reverting to physical controls for basic features like air conditioning, after receiving criticism from their customers for the less practical touch-based systems.

Another important upgrade included in the Ford Power-Up 4.1.2 package is the redesigned graphics of the SYNC 4A infotainment system. More specifically, designers refined the home screen and added new icons on the status bar for the user’s favorite features, while making drive modes, software updates, and personal profiles more easily accessible through the menus.

Finally, Mach-E owners are also able to enjoy the “Bridge Battle” strategy game and the “Parking Lot” puzzle through their infotainment screen.

Over-the-air updates are a clever way of improving the functionality of the vehicle’s subsystems throughout its lifecycle without the need of upgrading any hardware or visiting a service station. Most automakers add OTA compatibility to their new models, allowing owners to fix any bugs and continuously improve the infotainment and other software-based functions in their cars.
