Lucid Motors announced today that it managed to surpass its most recent target of producing somewhere between 6,000 and 7,000 cars during 2022.

In total, the automaker built 7,180 vehicles in 2022. To achieve that figure, it produced almost half of that total, 3,493 cars to be exact, during the fourth quarter alone. That’s an increase of some 53 percent over its production total of 2,282 Air sedans during the third quarter. These figures mean that Lucid exceeded the guidance it provided in August of 2022 when it said that it would build somewhere between 6,000 and 7,000 cars during 2022.

What Lucid doesn’t say is that the August guidance was severely watered-down compared to the company’s original plan to build 20,000 vehicles in 2022 before it was first cut to 12,000-14,000 and then halved again.

Deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2022 were up too with some 1,932 cars making their way to customers over just 1,398 deliveries in the third quarter. Overall 4,369 Lucid vehicles made their way to customers, or nearly 61% of the vehicles built.

The company has yet to release any guidance for production and delivery goals for 2023. Still, Lucid says that it’ll release its full 2022 financial results on February 22nd. We expect to get some indication of 2023 goals at that time. Between now and then it seems reasonable to presume that Lucid will continue its upward trend in production and delivery totals. To date, it has four trim levels of its Air sedan in production and is still working to bring its Gravity SUV to the market.

The production goal achievement is the latest in a series of positive developments for the brand. Just days ago it won a lawsuit where SPAC investors claimed that it defrauded them before its IPO and only a few weeks ago the first European-bound Air Dream Edition cars were handed over to customers.
