An extensively modified 1965 Ford Mustang is heading to auction next week and beautifully combines classic looks with modern technologies.

Immediately making this Mustang special is the fact that it is powered by a 427 cubic-inch Roush IR V8 engine that features an iron 4-bolt block, a steel crankshaft, H-beam rods, forged pistons, CNC-ported aluminum heads, a roller cam, an 8-stack intake, Roush ECU, AEM Performance fuel pumps, and a custom fuel cell.

While the Barrett-Jackson listing doesn’t reveal how much power the car has, it does note that the V8 is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission with a McLeod triple-plate clutch, a custom driveshaft, and a Ford 9-inch differential, all indications of it having a serious amount of grunt.

Elsewhere, the muscle car sits on RRS Phase 6 front suspension components, is equipped with RRS coilovers, RRS GT rack & pinion steering, and reinforced lower control arms. It also has custom chassis connectors, a custom inner tower support, custom torque boxes, and a custom tunnel. Also featured are RRS six-piston front and four-piston rear brake calipers.

The exterior of the pony car has also been thoroughly altered. It features all-new steel body panels, custom bumpers, unique rocker panels, flared wheel arches, and air louvers behind the side windows. There is also smoked glass, LED headlights, a custom fuel cap, custom door handles, and a lovely PPG Blurple paint finish.

Numerous changes have also been made to the cabin and including Nappa leather components, a custom dashboard, center console, bespoke seats, Vintage Air system, digital dials, electric windows and billet switches.
