If you’ve never heard a person lose a drag race but experience glee at the same time stay tuned because that’s exactly what happens in this video. The folks from Throttle House got a hold of some very special sports cars and took them out to Willow Springs Raceway for a very special drag race. Here’s what happens when America’s sports car takes on two generations of the Godzilla.

Off the top, it’s important to acknowledge that this isn’t exactly the fairest race on paper. The Corvette Z06 is completely stock and develops 670 hp (493 kW) but sends all of that power through the rear tires only.

The R35 GT-R on hand is of the $210,740 NISMO variety so it makes 600 hp (441 kW) and the tuned R34 GT-R sports over 1,000 hp (746 kW). Both Nissans have the benefit of putting power to the ground through all four wheels.

Keeping those things in mind, it’s not totally shocking that the GT-Rs both leave the Corvette for dead when the three left from a dig. As one of the presenters points out, the C8 Z06 really struggles to hook up and that makes keeping up all the more difficult. At the same time, it doesn’t stop the C8 driver from cackling at the sheer brutality that the R34 unleashes as it rumbles down the track.

In the interest of diminishing the traction advantage, the trio lines up for a roll race, and indeed, the results are quite different. This time, the C8 and its massively powerful engine give it a leg up on the R35 GT-R all the way down the track. It creeps further and further from R35 while the R34 walks them both as though they’re standing still.

An interesting fact is that, the R34 GT-R was actually experiencing some issues and was running with only five out of its six cylinders! Just wow.

Now we’re left wondering exactly how the new Corvette E-Ray might fare against the NISMO GT-R. That Vette has the benefit of all-wheel drive and almost as much horsepower as the Z06. In fact, it’s the quickest production Corvette ever made. We’ll just have to wait until someone lines them up and drops the flag to find out which one comes out on top.
