Jay Leno, the car-loving comedian known for his love of double denim is enduring a triple dose of misfortune. Reports say that Leno, who was burnt in a wrenching accident last fall, and is currently recovering after falling off his motorcycle, has had his Jay Leno’s Garage show axed by CNBC.

Leno has been a CNBC fixture for over 30 years, first as the presenter of The Tonight Show, then the Jay Leno Show, and more recently with his car series. Jay Leno’s Garage premiered in 2015 and has featured some incredible cars and more than a few very special guests. Only a few months ago the show featured President Joe Biden racing his C2 Corvette.

The Hollywood Reporter says the cancellation of Garage comes as CNBC looks to make major scheduling changes that will concentrate on reruns of Shark Tank and Undercover Boss, plus original business-focused documentaries.

Leno, 72, suffered serious burns last November while working on a vintage 1907 White Steam Car. He was underneath the 115-year old vehicle when gas from a fuel line sprayed over his face and body and caught fire. A quick thinking friend helped extinguish the flames, but the accident still resulted in a hospital stay for Leno.

And the comedian was back in hospital this month after falling off a motorcycle. Leno suffered two broken ribs and two cracked kneecaps as a result of the smash.

In another blow for fans of car shows we recently learned that YouTube channel Carfection, previously known as XCar, and operated by CNET, has also been axed. Fortunately for us, former presenter Henry Catchpole is now producing very similar content for insurance company Hagerty’s own YouTube channel.
